BEERKADA is a comic strip about a group of college friends whose usual night out is drinking beer (beer+ barkada = beerkada). Based on the artist's real-life college friends, the comic strip started in 1998 in that excellent piece of journalism called The Philippine Star. It has spawned three compilations thus far and won legions of devoted readers, from physicians, high schoolers, soap opera celebrities, to directors (the most rabid of whom have joined the mailing list and are affectionately called by the artist as Beerkadets.) Realizing that children also read the strip, Lyndon has toned down the inebriation and has concentrated more on wholesome activities, like stalking women and uttering gibberish. 

     Beerkada is in its last year, with the guys graduating and fearfully, yet eagerly awaiting the future.

 

 glen dela costa is the torpe of the gang. a shy, naive lad from the province, this boy is slowly learning the ways of the big city. although lucky in love, glen always manages to screw things up with his women.

glen is currently schmoozing up to a cutie freshman named jenky. 

 

 alan polantoc is always trying to be cool; thus, he ends up looking ridiculous at any given time. an erstwhile inventor & career carouser, alan actually won the hand of long-time paramour boopey valenzuela with his patented "engg love".

with anyone wearing a skirt.
   dana aguila is ms. kikay, a spirited & romantic lass concerned with the latest fashion, especially the "britney" look. dana is currently heartbroken when her older man announced he got married. she is expected to recover.

 

 
jimmy goco is the lord of
cluelessness. never, EVER,
tell him a joke, or else you'll
spend the next 6 hours
explaining to him why it is
funny. a frequent target of
alan's pranks, jimmy has dana
to protect him. unless dana
herself is up to something.

jay bilasco is boy tibak. a militant activist & eager mountaineer, jay usually leads the gang's forays into the wilderness or against the administration-US regime, whichever gets him out of classes first.

 

 boopey valenzuela is dana's non-nonsense best friend. she is being pestered by alan's persistent yet tactless come-ons. she has already given in & is maintaining a secret, yet overwhelming relationship with alan.

harry otto galisaso is the gang's class-A jerk. harry is always trying to prove to be worldly and know-it- all, whether heading the registration committee or winning a beauty pageant.

 

 aling mcbeal is the sole proprietor of aristocart, a mobile food outlet serving the best food outside the jurisdiction of the department of health. the gang continues to patronize her establishment as long as no one is being carted away inside a body bag.
